Humphreys announces that the new Garda Station at Bailieborough is going out to tender

December 23, 2019

Heather Humphreys, Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, and Fine Gael TD for Cavan Monaghan, has announced that the new Garda Station at Bailieborough will go out to tender imminently.

Minister Humphreys said:

I am delighted to announce that the new Garda Station at Bailieborough will go out to tender in the coming days. Having spoken with Minister Moran, I can confirm that an advertisement seeking expressions of interest for the main contractor will be posted imminently.

The development will include the refurbishment of the existing protected structure at the site, and the construction of a new three-storey over basement extension with all the necessary services, landscaping and carparking facilities.

This news will be greeted warmly by the people of Bailieborough, who have been in need of a new Garda station for some time. It will also be warmly welcomed by local Gardaí working in the station, as they have been dealing with substandard accommodation in the current building on Barrack Street for far too long.

The new station will also be a positive addition to the wider area, as the new high quality building will act as District Headquarters.

I have been consistently making the case for a new station for the town so I am very pleased that the project is now firmly underway.

I will continue to monitor progress in the coming months to ensure that construction starts as soon as possible.
