January 6, 2020

Heather Humphreys, Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, and Fine Gael TD for Cavan Monaghan, has announced that over €72,000 in funding has been allocated for the fit-out of a food production facility in Scotstown under the LEADER programme.

Speaking on the matter, Minister Humphreys said:

"I am delighted to announce that €72,246.80 in LEADER funding has been allocated for the fit-out of a production facility in Scotstown which will manufacture rice cakes and package sweets. It will also allow for the purchase of equipment and machinery. This funding allocation falls under the Enterprise Development (Food Initiative) Category of the LEADER programme, and has been awarded to JFC Distribution Ireland Ltd.

Monaghan Local Community Development Committee has responsibility for the delivery of LEADER in the county, and the programme is designed to support rural development projects initiated locally in order to revitalise rural areas and create jobs.

Without a doubt, LEADER plays a hugely valuable role in supporting rural communities in Monaghan, and I would like to take this opportunity to commend the Committee for their hard work and commitment in this space.

I have no doubt that this funding allocation will be invaluable to Inniskeen and the wider area, and I look forward to tracking their progress in the coming period.”
